OH WHAT A NIGHT!
What a fantastic night had by all at the launch of my new CD "Extraordinary Daze".The night itself was a bit of a daze with so many people the room was about packed to capacity. The raffle winners had even more to smile about with many great prizes won in our giant raffle, lots of dancing going on well into the night and all got a taste of the new songs from the album!
A big THANKYOU to all who attended and supported me on the night.

Sydney based artist MERILYN STEELE
has been snapped up by South Australian based publishers IMAGINE
MUSIC PUBLISHING.
Having been named Open Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2007 Horsham
Country Music Awards, and recently appearing on the Channel 31 show 'Songwriters
Across Australia', Merilyn is floating on cloud nine.
Director of Imagine Music Publishing, Hugh Mclean, is proud to add Merilyn to
his publishing ranks,
and
sees a bright future for her.
Having released her debut album THIS PASSION,
in 2005, containing her singles Ten Less Candles, Charades and You Don't Wanna
Know, Merilyn is heading into the studio over the next few months with Love Hz

JOURNEY
TO THE RED CENTRE
I
have just returned from an amazing journey of Central Australia - our 'Red
Centre', and had many wonderful adventures, saw and did many new things and came
back with lots of ideas and stories of people and places. Great fodder for new
songs!
At Ayers Rock (Uluru) we watched the sunrise and set many times, it
was a magical experience. All the photo's you've even seen don't compare with
standing in front of it in awe as it seemingly begins to glow and change colour
before your eyes.
From Alice Springs we travelled far east to a town called
Hermannsberg, a place which fascinated me. This was the place where the first
Aboriginal mission was set up by Lutheran missionaries to assist them with
health issues, education and try and improve their living conditions. These people did it tough and lived rugged with very little water,
hot and dry condtions, no electricity, primitive communication methods and
ultimate isolation, literally out in the middle of nowhere!
It was the plight of these missionaries, especially the women, that
led to the penning of one of my latest songs about how they must have lived
then, the sheer hardship, what they saw and how difficult life would have been.
It is hard to imagine.
So listen out for the new release coming soon on that!
A visit to the lovely folk at 2CCC-FM in Alice Springs was fun.
Thanks to the presenters who have been playing my single,
'Charades', and hopefully others now off the album!
Highlight of the trip - being part of a camel train around the foot of
the Macdonell Ranges!

TAMWORTH
FESTIVAL
Another
successful Tamworth Country Music Festival has come and gone for Merilyn.
Merilyn performed to audiences all over the festival with a fantastic
response. Merilyn performed songs from her new album "This
Passion" as well as some old favourites.
Highlights
of the festival for Merilyn were the songwriting workshops with Beccy Cole and
Catherine Britt which will only further strengthen her songwriting skills and
ability.
The
biggest thrill of the festival was performing live streaming via the internet to
a radio station in Texas!!!
